Printing from your iPad requires an AirPrint enabled printer.  There is some 3rd part software which will allow you to do it as well but it’s easiest to get a printer set up for it in the first place.  You can find out more about Airprint here http://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201311 including a list of printers that are Airprint capable.
